My old Mendel has been upgraded over and over again but the one thing that I never replaced was the hotend: one of the first J-heads.It is a pity these Chinese knockoffs tarnish your work; I hope you will resume selling your hotends at some point (also since I want a new one to improve my print quality :-) )

Currently I'm using a Chinese counterfeit which gives very nice prints from time to time, but it does ooze and it does let prints fail occasionally. I bought the Chinese one (long ago) and I didn't even know it was counterfeit until much later. I have bought an original J-Head a while back from a vendor in the Netherlands. It looks much better, but I didn't make the time to install it yet, because I need to upgrade some other parts first. I wish you good luck with the hot ends.
The chinese knock-offs have contributed to lost sales to the point that I most likely will soon quit selling genuine J-head hot-ends. The market has chosen the chinese knock-offs as they are cheaper even though people have had many problems with them. I have refused to compete with china on price as quality would suffer. I would rather quit selling hot-ends than sell junk.
I imagine that a lot of people are not aware that they buy a Chinese knock-off. I think that the hot-end buyers cannot be blamed because they simply don't know that they buy a counterfeit product. I'm glad that I have a genuine J-head hot-end since they start to get hard to find. I hope for the Reprap community that you'll find a way to sell hot-ends in a sustainable way. If you stop selling them that will be completely understandable as well. Good luck!
